There are four seasons, with the winter months considerably milder than in the northern United States. An abundance of outdoor activities are available virtually year-round.
From a resident ballet company and symphony orchestra to sporting events for all age groups, local opportunities are enhanced by the proximity of nearby universities. In addition, Memphis, Tennessee provides urban activities and professional sporting events such as NBA basketball.
Tupelo serves as the regional shopping hub for north Mississippi, with a major mall and several surrounding area strip malls providing more than 139,000 sq. meters of retail space. Both North Mississippi Health Services and Baptist Memorial Health services provide quality health care. North Mississippi Health Services’ 650-bed hospital in Tupelo is the largest rural hospital in the nation with 430 physicians.
Wellspring Project is located within an hour’s drive of three major universities including the University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, and the University of Memphis. Itawamba and Northeast Community Colleges are located in adjacent counties.
The public school systems in Pontotoc, Union and Lee counties are recognized among the top school systems in the State of Mississippi. The average pupil to teacher ratio is 16:1. The average high school graduation rate exceed 86% and the average SAT score is 575 Verbal and 581 Math. More than ninety-eight percent (98%) of school age children attend public schools. |
